Project Gado is an independent social enterprise with offices on both coasts (in Baltimore and San Francisco) and partners worldwide, from Santa Ana, California to Helsinki, Finland. Our mission is to digitize and share the world’s visual history. We work with archives, photographers and individuals to digitize and preserve their materials using our innovative technologies.

Our partners include newspapers, like the Afro American Newspapers in Baltimore, and universities like Johns Hopkins University and Aalto University in Finland. Because our technology is all Open Source, most of our R&D comes from the community of developers all around the world. From the archivist at the Santa Ana Public Library to the Aalto team in Finland, Project Gado is an example of the power of open source to spark innovation and create community.
